2372 - Specialization in Business Administration Course IV - International Management and Marketing
Class objective(s) (learning outcomes)
The aim of the course is to provide the students with an understanding of the strategic management implications of firms’ globalization process and management tools to cope with these globalization processes. Globalization in the sense of a sophisticated international division of responsibilities within the corporation implies fundamental organizational changes – much more profound than the changes that result from international expansion. Although extant management literature has dealt with globalization for several decades little is known about the globalization process as such. Hence, questions like: What drives the globalization process? What deters it? How is it implemented? are chiefly unanswered. In fact, very few companies are truly global; but there is little doubt that the pressure for globalization will increase dramatically over the coming years.
Teaching and learning method(s)
The delivery of the course will be based on a combination of readings, lectures, assignments (both individual and group), presentations, and discussions. The main objectives of this combinative approach are to facilitate the understanding of concepts and approaches, stimulate class participation and provide dialogue between the lecturer and the students.
